Maria Shevchenko
Maria Shevchenko is a classical guitarist from Kyiv, Ukraine. She began playing the guitar at the age of 10 and was accepted at the age of 15 into Kyiv's R. Gliere Municipal Academy of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of Y. Khimchenko and E. Drozdova. She won several international competition prizes: 1st prize at the Vilnius International Competition (2017), "Belissimo" Music Performance Competition in Kyiv (2018).
Since 2019, Maria resides in Leuven, Belgium, where she continues her studies at "LUCA School of Arts" under the tutelage of Raphaella Smits and Joao Carlos Victor. She devotes herself to teaching music, solo performances and chamber music. In 2022, she won 2nd prize in the Swiss International Competition (chamber music category with flutist Dario Caporuscio).
